Genealogy of social movements in post-Islamic revolution Iran: the breakdown of national security

Abstract

In accordance with the changes and structural transformations in religious beliefs, social relations, economic, etc., the Iranian society has been faced with a variety of confrontational, protesting and sometimes contradictory actions after the Islamic Revolution. Therefore, the current research was conducted with the aim of genealogy of social movements in Iran after the Islamic Revolution. For this purpose, with a qualitative research approach based on data-oriented theory and using semi-structured interview technique, with 17 professors and experts in the fields of political science, political sociology and sociology of revolution in three universities of Tehran, Allameh Tabatabaei and Shahid. Beheshti was interviewed. The sampling method was purposeful and based on theoretical saturation. The text of the interviews was coded using MAXQDA10 qualitative data analysis software and seven types of movements focused on class divide, civil-legal demands, lifestyle, political demands, identification and myth-making (national and ethnic), belief systems and sectarian currents and Movements focused on value patterns and normative distinctions were identified from the perspective of experts. The results showed that despite the diversity in the strategies and actions of the actors in each of the identified movements, all of them were aimed at overthrowing, disrupting political order and stability as well as national security.
