Abstract

As one of the oldest political sources of Islam, Nahj-ul-Balagha contains many instructive points that require correct and methodical interpretation to understand the main intentions of its author. Quintin Skinner's intentionalist hermeneutic approach has been used to analyze this issue. This approach seems to be a suitable method for understanding classical texts such as Nahj al-Balagha and explaining historical political issues. The aim of the current research is to investigate and analyze the way to achieve the intention of Imam Ali (a.s.) from the government and to evaluate the events and political issues of 30-40 Hijri with the help of hermeneutic method. Based on this, the main question is how to find out the intention of the Imam (a.s.) in the matter of governance and planning of public affairs? The result of the research, according to Skinner's method, is that the Holy Prophet addressed the seven basic questions of the time about the return of ignorance, the dignity of the ruler, the defense of the principle of the government, the weakening of the religious logic of the government, the transformation in the functions of the government, the transformation in the nature of the selection of government agents and in The Quraysh responded with the political economy of the time and acted according to the political language of that period which was based on allegiance, council, social acceptability, action based on the Sunnah of God and the way of the Messenger of God.
