Introduction
Throughout history, the direction in which the world is heading has always been a fundamental question for different schools of thought. In this regard, Islam, relying on a monotheistic worldview, offers a distinctive approach; from this perspective, the world is moving towards an era in which oppression and injustice will be eradicated from the earth and justice and fairness will prevail throughout the universe. In Shiite thought, the complete dominance of Islam over all religions and schools of thought will be achieved during the reign of the twelfth successor of the Holy Prophet (PBUH). Waiting for such a bright future is an issue that has been emphasized in many narrations, and accordingly, Shiites are always waiting for the emergence of the Promised Mahdi (PBUH) and the establishment of a world-wide government of justice. The great importance of the issue of waiting among Shiites has led to various discussions and opinions and the formation of approaches to this issue that can be divided into two general approaches: In the first approach, waiting is limited to individual reform and prayer for salvation, and it is referred to as "stagnant waiting." In contrast to this approach, there is a belief in a dynamic and active movement in the social sphere, which is called "constructive waiting." Those who do not consider waiting to be limited to individual reform and believe in social reforms are divided into two groups: one group is content with a level of reform and does not seek fundamental transformations and changes in structures. They call this approach "semi-active waiting." But the other group believes in fundamental and comprehensive reforms. This approach seeks to realize the rule of Islam and spread the teachings of revelation through fundamental changes in all areas. Such an approach is called "active waiting," and it is clear that the Islamic Revolution of Iran falls into this category. This approach seeks to pave the way for the emergence of the Imam by moving along the path of Mahdist ideals. Now the question is, what effects has such an approach to waiting, or in other words, the ideal of emergence, had on the political discourse of the Islamic Republic of Iran?
Materials & Methods
The approach of this research is qualitative and analytical and the method used in it is thematic analysis. In qualitative research, various methods and techniques are used to analyze data, and in this research we use the thematic analysis method. The data used in this research are written texts and interviews. There are different types of interviews, but given the qualitative nature of the research, we use the in-depth interview method.
Thematic analysis can be implemented using various techniques, and in this research we use the thematic network technique. In this technique, first the themes of the text are discovered and extracted (basic themes), then those themes are categorized and summarized (organizing themes), and in the third stage, the summarized themes are transformed into themes governing the entire text by being malleable in the form of basic metaphors (overarching themes), and finally, the relationships between the organizing and overarching themes are shown by drawing a network map.
Discussion & Result
The analysis of the data themes shows that the themes of "Guardianship of the Jurist", "Justice", "Anti-Arrogance", "Bringing the Revolution", and "Islamic Civilization", "Hope-building" are among the most important effects of the ideal of emergence on the political discourse of the Islamic Republic. First, in the axis of Guardianship of the Jurist, the ideal of Mahdism as the theoretical and divine support of the religious government guarantees the legitimacy and continuity of the leadership of the all-encompassing jurist. In the axis of hope-building, the idea of emergence has breathed a spirit of dynamism and transformation in society and has caused dissatisfaction with the status quo and a continuous movement towards reform and progress. In the axis of justice, taking as a model the justice of the Mahdists has led the orientation of the policies and programs of the system towards social justice, elimination of deprivation and construction. In the axis of anti-arrogance, resistance against the system of domination, support for the oppressed, and non-compromise with global arrogance are among the teachings arising from Mahdism. In the axis of exporting the revolution, the ideal of Mahdavi has led to the training of conscious and militant forces on a global level and the transmission of the message of justice and monotheism to other nations. Finally, in the axis of Islamic civilization, the ideal of emergence has guided the final horizon of the Islamic Revolution towards the realization of a new Islamic civilization by creating a link between faith, science, morality, and progress.
Conclusion
In general, it can be said that the ideal of emergence plays an important role in drawing the final horizon and theoretical foundations of macro-policymaking in the political discourse of the Islamic Republic of Iran and is a strategic and constructive force in the political and social discourse of the Islamic Republic. The requirements of this discourse require that its indicators and components be further scrutinized by scholars and researchers so that, based on a common understanding of them, a discursive consensus in the field of policymaking can be strengthened and, based on this horizon and perspective, a new approach can be presented in analyzing, measuring and criticizing the performances in the Islamic Republic.
