This article is written with the aim of investigating the just war in the thought of Abunsarfarabi. The main question is, with what argument does Farabi justify the war's justice? Does this acceptance mean that there is also an unjust war? The findings of the research indicate that war in Islam is a solution to eliminate oppression, sedition and aggression, and it is never for revenge, ambition, conquest of a country, or to gain trophies and occupy other people's lands. Also, in the eyes of Farabi, the criteria of the fairness or brutality of war are embodied in key concepts such as good and justice, and a just war is one that is carried out in the direction of obtaining good for the people of Medina and realizing justice for all. The result of the research indicates that Farabi's theory of just war is one of the theories that consider the legitimacy and unfairness of wars to be based on their ends and place the means and means of action in the next ranks of importance. As a result, in his thought, a just war is hostage to the promotion, distribution and provision of virtue and charity, and otherwise it becomes an aggressive war. This article deals with the interpretation of Farabi's works by examining library works and sources and a hermeneutic approach and has been compiled with the help of descriptive-analytical method.
