One of the overlooked areas in examining the political thoughts of contemporary thinkers is the exploration of their theories regarding the most significant manifestation of political modernity, namely the state. This article, therefore, raises the central question concerning the theory of state in the political thought of Martyr Motahhari. The hypothesis is that, given Motahhari's focus on political and social issues and the conceptual capacities of Shia jurisprudence, he likely had thoughts on the theory of state that are either implicitly or explicitly presented in his works. These can be logically reconstructed by extracting theoretical premises and conceptual elements. The findings of this research reveal that Martyr Motahhari not only addressed the theory of state directly but also, through an analysis of the sources of political rights and the process of citizen participation in power, was able to present a highly democratic theory on the subject. The research adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, with data collected through library and documentary sources.
