Abstract
Considering the importance of women's presence and participation in social, political, cultural and economic activities, and since throughout history, many obstacles have appeared in the role of this stratum of human society, the present research aims to investigate "Citizenship rights of women and their background and position in the Islamic Republic of Iran" has been done by descriptive-analytical method and by using library resources by phishing method. The findings of the research show that the history of paying attention to citizenship rights in Iran, especially women's citizenship rights, goes back to ancient times and the times of Elamites and Achaemenids. In Iran during the Islamic era, the most prominent approach to women's citizenship rights took place with the constitutional revolution, which manifested itself in the presence and participation of women in publications and the formation of women's associations. After that, during the Pahlavi period, women were given the right to vote for the first time, and then, it became possible for Iranian women to be elected as parliamentarians. With the victory of the Islamic Revolution, a new view of women emerged with regard to Islamic values, which appeared in the Constitution of the Islamic Republic and then in the Charter of Citizen Rights. The results of this research show that although significant progress has been made regarding women's citizenship rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran, the proposed laws do not have sufficient executive guarantees and there is still a long way to go before women achieve their citizenship rights.
